2. Canon Character Information
Name: Albus Potter | Al | Albie | Allie (though if you call him those last two, he'll hex you)
PB: Landon Liboiron
Journal: [personal profile] bravescion
Age: 18
Appearance:
Albus has dark hair like his father and the Evans family's green eyes. Currently his hair hangs in his face. He stands at 5 foot 9 and has a relatively slim build but it's kept toned by his lifestyle. His clothes are pretty casual: with jeans, a t-shirt and occasionally a sweater. Though, of course, he has been known to wear wizard robes.

History:

Albus was born as the second son to the famous Harry Potter and his wife, Ginny Weasley. They spent a lot of time in Grimmauld Place that his father had inherited from his godfather, Sirius Black. As a child he often played with his older brother, James and his cousins – growing exceptionally close with Rose Weasley (Ron and Hermione’s daughter) who was the same age as him. Of course a lot of time was spent at the Burrow with his extended family, not just with his cousins but also with all of his aunts, uncles and even the grandparents (Molly and Arthur are his only pair, after all). Arthur would tell him things about the Muggle world that he’s learned, some of the information was completely wrong. His father’s godson, Teddy, was also someone Al liked a lot and practically wanted him related to the Potter/Weasley family.

By the time he was eleven, Al pretty much only had family as his friends - mostly because the Wizarding world viewed him as the son of the famous wizard who killed Voldemort. The only kids who would have saw him as just another kid would be those whose parents were friends with his dad – like Luna’s twins. When he about to start school at Hogwarts he was worried about being placed in Slytherin due to the common misconception that everyone who went into the House came out bad or even evil. James did not help by teasing him, like his brother is fond of doing. However, his father assured him that good men could come out of that house as well like the man he was named after. Uncle Ron pretended to be not-so-understanding with Rose and threatened to disinherit her if she wasn’t a Gryffindor.

With his cousin at his side Al went on to Hogwarts where he was sorted into the Slytherin House. Not because he was a terrible person but because Al had dreams and the potential of greatness – to be great like his father. Not that a Potter was instantly accepted and there were often whispered behind closed doors or behind his back. On top of that, he really got to see how the name “Potter” turned heads but only because of his father. His older brother really took to the fame (much like the grandfather & godfather he was named for) but for Al it was completely different. School really showed just how much he was like his father and Al didn’t care for the fame that came along for being Harry’s son. It took a couple of years but he found his place in the school and now the whispers are usually reserved for the first years. He and Rose were like two peas in a pod at school despite their different houses and sometimes it seemed difficult to find one without the other. Albus worked hard at school and avoided trouble like his parents used to get into. Though that wasn’t hard considering there wasn’t a Dark Lord trying to kill him and everyone he cared about.

Some time in his early years, Al took an interest in Scorpius Malfoy even if some of his family members warned him to stay away (particularly George and Ron). However, he ignored them and started being nice to the young Malfoy heir and they became friends during their third year. It took more time for Rose to warm up to him but she was among the first to accept Scorpius into the Potter-Weasley fold. The rest of his years in Hogwarts passed rather quietly and any trouble they did manage to find was minor. Of course, he always returned home or to the Burrow for the holidays and on rare occasions Al would hex the persistent bully behind Scorpius’ back. When fifth year came around and they had to start thinking about their futures, he didn’t know what he wanted to do with his life. James had already decided to follow closely in their father’s footsteps and get a job with the Ministry of Magic but Al was determined to make his own place in the world. So he chose a job that wasn’t exactly like the ones his father and brother had chosen to protect the peace but would still help people. Thus Al took the classes that would allow him to be a healer, even if it meant more potions that he was terrible at. He graduated at the age of eighteen as he had celebrated it during the last few months of the school years.

No longer a student, Al looked into getting a job at St. Mungos as a Healer, which he got not due to his fame but because of his skills. His first day on the job was alongside half a dozen of other potential Healers. Due to the fact that they had much to learn first, a Healer would work with them one-on-one and it was just his luck that one Draco Malfoy picked him. His best friend's father would be the one to teach him. Merlin's beard, his luck was terrible sometimes. That is the point he's coming in from.

Powers/Talents:
Al is a wizard in the Harry Potter universe. That means he uses a wand to cast spells and had to learn to perform them in the first place. Of course, without a wand, there isn't a lot he can do though sometimes wandless magic can occur in times of great distress or emotion and it's usually a wild card on how that turns out. Like his parents Al is exceptionally good at charms, dueling, flying, defense against the Dark Arts and to his dislike - the Dark Arts themselves. However, he doesn't do well with potions - a lot of them tend to blow up in his face. He got by well-enough in school with tutoring from both Scorpius and his cousin, Rose.

Personality:
He grew up not entirely sheltered from the horror of the world, especially not what followed in the wake of his father’s defeat of Voldemort. There were still supporters of the Dark Lord that needed to be found and with Harry’s position as an Auror, it was hard to ignore what was going on in the world. Though he did grow up loved by his large family. At first, Al loved the stories about his father’s youth and idolized him. While that’s still true he’s also realized just how much the Wizarding World is looking at his children. His father had cast a long deep shadow that they were expected to live up to. Al has struggled to break free of that throughout his years during school. He’s become his own independent person, intending to live off the money he earns and making his own place in the world.

Al is a quiet sort of person, not feeling the need to be loud and boisterous like his older brother. That doesn’t mean he can’t get his point across when he needs to. He just prefers to do it in a calm manner. He’s also pretty easy-going, not in a rush to do anything or overly worried about things. Al’s pretty reasonable and will go along with things that are suggested to him. It makes him easy to get along with most of the time. Though he does have strong opinions and isn’t afraid to stand up for them.

Usually when he’s quiet that means he’s thinking about something -- always thinking, that one. Whether it’s about his situation or something else it’s hard to tell. But it’s easy to see the cogs turning inside his head when he goes quiet. Sometimes those thoughts get put into words and when he reveals them they tend to be a little snarky or sarcastic. Usually only when he’s bothered by something huge or confronting a bully. He has a lot of his father in him on that.

He also got his father’s intense curiosity. Mostly that can just end him up in trouble even if he never meant it to. It does come in pretty handy when it doesn’t land him in trouble as it means that he has the desire to learn things. The capacity to forgive or give someone a second chance is also something that comes from his father – just a little anyway. His might actually be a little quicker and deeper than his father’s but that’s simply because he hasn’t had the same experiences growing up. Al never had the horrible family or evil wizard breathing down his shoulder. This is what allowed him to make friends with Scorpius when certain members of his family and friends told him not to.

Al is also probably one of the kindest people someone will ever meet. He’s willing to give everyone a chance or even protect someone from getting hurt or killed. It’s both a good and bad thing considering that means he will recklessly throw himself into danger for complete strangers. He’s also very caring; he won’t just abandon someone because they can’t be helped. Al would stay by their side and hold their hand or visit with them if he could. That is why he went into medicine. Sure, he could have gone on to be an Auror or work in the Ministry to save lives but instead he chose to heal people. Not just to save lives but to also look after them long after the initial saving.

Now Al has all of the attributes to be a Gryffindor such as bravery and chivalry like most of the Potters and Weasleys do but he’s nothing like his loud brother. He was even afraid to end up in Slytherin and expressed them to his dad. Harry told him that good wizards had come out of that house too and he was named after one of them. Besides, the hat would take into account what he wanted. Al still didn’t want to end up in Slytherin. It was up in the air which house he would end up, much like it was with his father. For some reason he just put his faith that the hat would decide what was best for him and he ended up in Slytherin. He had to display that Gryffindor bravery those first few months as a Potter hadn’t been sorted into Slytherin for generations.

Of course, to end up in Slytherin that means he has all of the traits of one. Al’s cunningness came from a lifetime of prank wars with James (and uncle). He learned to fight back in a smart way and sometimes even in a sly manner. There was always a bit more finesse to his retaliation than their often crude ways. Of course, because of these prank wars he’s learned to be resourceful. He couldn’t do magic outright at his age so he’d have to find other, creative ways to get them back. Really, it wasn’t fair when his uncle could use magic and sided against him. As for ambition, Al has always looked up to his father. The stories of Harry’s life were one of the best things about hanging with his dad and because of it, he idolized his father but it also made Al want to be just as great. As he grew older, he realized that he wanted to be just a great in a different way. He wanted to separate himself from his father’s legacy and carve one for himself. All of this made him perfect to be in Slytherin house.

Why would your character be chosen?
He's a Potter. No, just kidding. Al grew up on the stories of his family's deeds on how they defeated the wizard Voldemort. At first these stories were fantastic and he loved them. But as he grew older, he realized what it really meant. The whole Wizarding World was looking at the Potter/Weasley family, for the kids to be just as brilliant as their parents. All Al wants is a chance to just be himself. What better place than where his father's name isn't written down in history as the hero of the last war? Al has something to prove, not just to the world but to himself as well.

How much does your character know about nonhumans?
There are nonhumans all over the Wizarding World - not just common creatures like vampires or werewolves but entirely made-up ones by the lovely JK Rowling. But Al doesn't just know about the magical side of the world, not with his father who grew up in a Muggle family but also because of his grandpa who has a serious fascination with Muggle items. They've told him stories (some of them completely incorrect) about the legends or mythological events that are told to Muggle children.

Why this character:
From the very brief moment we see of him in canon, Al seems to be a lot of his father at the beginning of his time at Hogwarts. While Harry has the fame he got for defeating Voldemort it's his own father's fame that Al has break free from. Not to mention that he's been named after two pretty famous people. Combined all three and every kid and adult in the Wizarding World knows his name. I think it would be fun to see him achieve something that allows him to make his mark on the world. Plus there's a lot to play with since we don't get to see a lot of him. Though that can make it difficult to play him in a long-term game because it's left to interpretation. He's been an off-on muse for the last four years and I found I do enjoy getting to work with him.

First-Person:

Soooo...we've been kidnapped by a bunch of otherworldly creatures to be a potential mate for a prince who can apparently get another male pregnant but currently we've been shipnapped by unknown people, and have no idea where we're going and no real way to go home if we wanted. Did I get that right? Am I missing any important details? [Probably, he thinks to himself.] Any important details about our current situation, that is.

Anyway, my name is Al Potter and back home I was about to start working at a hospital as an intern. [The Magical World works differently from the Muggle one and let their "interns" start right out of what is the equivalent of high school, therefore there's more teaching involved.]

I'm aware that there are different methods to healing but seeing as how I only know a few spells, I'd like to learn any medical methods anyone would be willing to teach me. If we have the supplies I could make potions... [An extremely long pause.] Okay, it might be better if I stayed away from potion-making but I know some basic first-aid.

Third-Person: Timey wimey, magicky smagicky thing with Draco
Third Sample: A thing with Scorpius
