IC Information;
Character Name; The TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space) || Sexy || Idris || The Ship || Old Girl || Dear Old Thing || Dear
Canon; Doctor Who
Canon Point; Series Seven Christmas Special: The Snowmen
Age; At least 900 probably more considering she sat around before the Doctor came along and well not easy to keep track of time on a time traveling adventure (anywhere between 8000 and 9000 with time being erased), her physical borrowed body is anywhere between late 20s to early 30s.

House; Freya
Power; Energy Transfer

Personality;

Even as a ship the TARDIS was a sentient being with a personality that showed through ever since the beginning of her time with the Doctor. She was adventurous wanting to leave Gallifrey to see the universe even though she’d already considered a museum piece. There was a bit of a wild and reckless side to her when the Doctor came looking for a TARDIS to take out into the great beyond. Her doors were unlocked the moment she realized that he’d be the perfect match to “borrow” her. In return the TARDIS stole him already having no intention of bringing him back. She must have been pretty impressive considering the Doctor has his pick of other TARDISes to take that day. Sure she’s been pretty faulty from nearly the start as her outer appearance got stuck the first time they landed on Earth along with several other problems such as not taking him where he wanted to go but she always took him where he needed to go and helped him run.

She was almost always very kind, often looking after the Doctor when he otherwise couldn’t such as during his regenerations when she could. Sometimes she was even able to make this kindness known such as giving him medical supplies when he couldn’t reach or acting on her own to ensure his safety or even just moving a lever when he felt impossibly alone and sad. A lot of the time her kindness also extended beyond the Doctor as she often protected his companions from certain things such as diseases and other alien viruses. There were even viruses that the Doctor and his companions could not fight off that the TARDIS took on herself even at the cost of her own life.

If there’s one thing about the TARDIS that shows through even while she was a ship it was her loyalty to the Doctor. While she might not have always seemed reliable she always, always did her best to look out for him. Whether it was making sure he got to the places he needed to be or looking after his health the TARDIS has never really left his side for very long. She has been his longest and most faithful companion through everything and it shows. In return the Doctor has sensed her loyalty; even the sixth incarnation considered her his most trusted companion. It really helped all those times the Doctor found himself with amnesia or when he’d lost her. While on the Impossible Planet she’d ended up somewhere where the tenth Doctor would find her in his time of need, and the same was said for the eleventh Doctor when being chased by Gangers. This could have been planned by the TARDIS as sometimes she does pick their landing destination.

The eighth Doctor called her ‘sentimental’ which, let’s face it, she is. Even when the desktop theme of the TARDIS changed or companions left she had this habit of archiving things. Sure some were pretty much locked away and hidden to the point that not even the Doctor knew about them but they were there. If she hadn’t had to jettison parts of the TARDIS to escape danger she would have held onto them forever. She’s also been known to visit Earth over and over again because she knows that it’s the Doctor’s favorite planet that’s inhabited by his favorite species. Even when she was the Edifice the Doctor was one of the few that was allowed to wander the corridors and open locked doors. She also seems to like appearing as a 1960s Police Box as the chameleon circuit seemed to be working but every time they landed she still took the appearance. It could be due to the fact that the ninth Doctor stated that he like it that way.

”It’s camouflaged. It’s disguised as a police telephone box from 1963. Every time the TARDIS materializes in a new location, within the first nanosecond of landing, it analyses its surroundings, calculates a twelve-dimensional data map of everything within a thousand-mile radius and then determines which outer shell would best blend in with the environment.... and then it disguises itself as a police telephone box from 1963.” – The Doctor

Even when she changed her outer shell to look newer after the eleventh’s regeneration the St. John’s Ambulance sticker was on her door like it had been in the days before the War. Though perhaps the shape also serves as a warning, or a beacon across time and space as most people or creatures the Doctor’s met over time and space have come to recognize it. Once a normal police box made an invading army retreat just by sitting there as they thought it belonged to the Doctor. In the end she’s the Doctor’s TARDIS and that’s the way she wants it to stay. Though she has shown that she’s exceptionally fond of Melody Pond/River Song as she taught the Time Lady how to pilot the TARDIS when the Doctor was incapacitated.

Not everything about the TARDIS was kindness and sunshine as she’s also been known to show hostility towards the Doctor’s companions. When he took on Charley the TARDIS refused to protect her from alien viruses simply because she was a walking paradox. She also tried her very best to escape Jack Harkness by going to the end of the universe in an attempt to shake him off as he is so very time-locked and wrong. If she met him while she was in a human body the TARDIS would probably treat him as if he was a wrong thing at first while getting used to him. And considering all of the things the Master has done to her she would probably be a bit scornful and bitter toward him though she would tolerate him for the Doctor’s sake.

According to K-9 the TARDIS was ‘stupid’ but it’s due to the fact that she does not use words to communicate. Despite that she still has her ways of reaching out and connecting with her Doctor with the various sounds she makes or lights that flash – even if he does ignore those warning lights. Even though the TARDIS is sentimental she often thinks of the companions as strays and gives them nicknames rather then use their names. It’s probably that way for all of the companions, a way to refer to them seeing as how the Doctor has never gone by his real name so she won’t use theirs either. Not to mention that she’s never actually used their names before so why not just call them whatever she wants. As a machine she just doesn't quite see people the way others do.

When the Doctor lost his home world and his people in the Last Great Time War, she did too. Because of this there’s a great sadness and loneliness that left a gaping whole in the universe. They share the same grief and probably lean on each other more than they ever did before the War. Being the last of their kind certainly leaves a great big scar that will probably never heal and together they run. They run from the pain and heartache, never staying still very long. While their past was often about adventures and good times it changed a little to keep themselves busy so they wouldn’t have time to think on their tragedies.

As a ship the TARDIS had always been thought of as feminine. The Doctor always referred to her as Old Girl or Dear and she even took a female appearance when she constructed a virtual world and virtual body. There were even times when his companions caught him stroking bits of the TARDIS and they treated it like the pair was an old married couple. Despite all of the affection they have for each other they certainly have their bickering moments, especially when she’s got the ability to speak. They’re hardly the perfect “couple” all of the time but disagreeing is good for them.

When she was dumped into the body of a human a lot of her personality was much the same. At first “Idris” seemed like a crazed woman who spoke nonsense, was rather violent and had no sense of personal space. This is due to the fact that she has all of time and space pouring into a human brain and she gets a little muddled and disoriented. Things are said or done out of order and she doesn’t always know what words to use as it’s her first time speaking out loud. Since she’s not used to human actions she’s been known to do physical things that people point out such as biting the Doctor when Uncle said she was a biter. Sometimes she takes things a little too literally such as fish fingers and locating the ‘off-switch’ in order to rest.

She has this tendency to ramble on probably due to both the fact that it’s something she picked up from the Doctor and having the ability to finally express herself. While sometimes she gets words confused such as saying ‘goodbye’ when she meant ‘hello’ or can’t put words to emotions she has eventually she does find the word she’s looking for. Still she has no problem expressing her displeasure at certain things he does as she’s obviously wanted to tell him for a long, long time. She chides him like a nagging mother or wife, the way they bicker can certainly make it look like the old married couple others see when she’s a box. Sure she nitpicks at him for certain things like the way he opens the TARDIS doors or never reads instructions but the Doctor gives as good as he gets. When he tried to accuse her of never being reliable she retorted that she always took him where he needed to go and he agreed.

However, she can be quite cheeky and playful too such as when he said he had only ‘borrowed’ her. There was no hesitation when she said she had no intention to give him back. It was this moment when she announced that she’d wanted to see the universe and so she stole him. There’s a sort of brutal honesty that comes with having the TARDIS in human form, though it can be a bit embarrassing too. When the Doctor asked “what do I call you?” she replied with the nickname he’d given her that seemed to make him embarrassed. Again it showed when faced with what she saw as a TARDIS graveyard with the corpses of her dead sisters. Still, she doesn’t let it affect her for too long when there are more important things to focus on.

Let’s not forget that she’s stubborn in both forms. Of course it’s easier a box that can’t really be argued with but as a human she doesn’t back down either, not from a fight or an impossible task. She’s simply too old and has so much faith in her Doctor to be afraid of certain things. While in her human body there’s a sadness to her because she knows that her time to talk and run around will be over soon and she will miss being able to do that with her Doctor, she also doesn’t exactly like facing the fact that he regenerates and will one day die. There will always be things that she fears or dislikes enough to step back and run from but she knows that they have to happen.

While box-shaped the TARDIS doesn’t really have any sense of privacy seeing as how she’s not only everywhere all the time but also the ship in which everyone lives in. It certainly carried over as she invades personal bubbles in order to touch people who believed her to be a complete stranger. Though, it might be a little more uncomfortable to know that she’s in their head when she uses her telepathy to talk to people. Or to know that what they did while she was a ship now has words to express private moments to others.

Due to the fact that she’s existed across time and space for most of her life she often has issues with tenses and can use them all at times. Sometimes she even confuses herself with what she says or corrects her sentences without really realizing it. This combined with her honesty makes her say things that haven’t happened yet or could be considered spoilers about the future without thinking first, especially if she’s disoriented. However the longer she’s in the body she seems to get a grasp on everything from having conversations the way most beings do and over her own actions.

At the end of her time in a human body she gets to say things that she’s always wanted to tell the Doctor, such as “hello” and “I love you”. All-in-all, the TARDIS is the most faithful companion as she will be there with him until the bitter end. If he’s happy, then so is she. Time and space, a boy and his box, the Doctor and the TARDIS – next stop: everywhere.

[There's bluish-green tatty fabric everywhere but slowly the image moves up to focus in on a face of a woman with dark hair. She definitely looks as though she's seen better days as she's gone pale and doesn't seem to be focusing in on the bracelet. It looks as though this woman hasn't gotten very far from the castle before she sat down on the ground.]

I'm... [New. Lost. The TARDIS. Sexy. Looking for someone. All good places to start.] What did they do to me? Why did they do it to me? Don't they know?

[Several short breaths.]

They can't just take it. Terrible thing that they've done. What are they going to do with it - blow a hole in the universe?

I've never...not even in a parallel world. Not even when the Council grounded us on Earth. Or even in E-Space. There was always something. [Disjointed, confused, falling apart at the seams - that's exactly what the TARDIS is. Not only has she been dumped into a human body but they stripped her of her power - of her connection to the universe.

She lays a hand on her abdomen.]
Feeling a bit queasy. I need the Doctor. One of him has to be here. The bowtie and tweed, pinstripes and rockstar coat, leather and big ears, even the ones with the long scarf, celery or rainbow coat. I need... [To know he's alive. Because this feeling has to be what it'll be like when he's dead.]

I need to see him. Tell him - tell him that Sexy needs to see his daft old face. No, no they won't all recognize that that's a rubbish message. Tell him his old girl has materialized. That'll send him running.

Black. Everything was black and dark and silent and surely this was the Void between worlds because it had never been like this before. All concept of up and down, time and space and feeling was distorted, lost. Therefore this must be what the Eternals called the Howling and others called Hell. Not even passing through the Void left this hollow emptiness she felt inside of her so perhaps she was stuck. Stuck somewhere she'd never been, never wanted to be. The very idea made her feel queasy. Telepathically she tried to reach out - to find the ever-constant light that surrounded him. That was him. But there was only oblivion.

Then there was something. Something she hadn't been aware of before. A warmth she wasn't familiar with, a blinding light somewhere in the distance, the scent of something foreign. All of these things were so close but yet still so far out of reach. She'd had this sensation before, just once. Reacting on instinct she opened her eyes. Eyes. She had eyes to see. And it was not what she expected to see. A pristine white room and in it stood a woman. The hands in front of her were familiar hands and it only took a second to realize that they were her hands - her borrowed hands from long ago. The woman in the room was her.

"Human." The word was a strange sound echoing in an equally strange location. She was human once again. How long had it been? Surely it was over two hundred now. They'd done so much, seen so much since then. Lost so many and now there was trouble brewing on the horizon. It was that moment why that empty feeling had settled deep inside her.

Clara Oswin Oswald, the Great Intelligence, the Silence, the Fields of Trensilore, the Fall of the Eleventh - all of it now out of her reach. Where were the answers? Where was her connection the universe? To her thief?

Gone. Ripped away just like her heart and soul had been torn from her big blue home. Except even then she'd been connected. Could still see the future and feel the Doctor. This was...it felt perverse. Someone had crept into the most private of her sanctuaries and took away everything she'd ever known, everything that she cared about. The queasy feeling returned with a vengeance and the TARDIS fought to keep whatever food Idris had eaten as a last meal in her stomach and not on the carpet. To make matters worse there was another woman - a faceless, unimportant woman who seemed to have some sort of perception filter about her. She was talking, the words only registering on a subconscious level that would be reviewed later, and it felt as though it would never end but then it did.

Hands were used to feel her way along the edges of the room more than eyes. She had to get out, had to free herself from the suddenly constricting walls, had to find the Doctor. He had to be alive and he had to be here. If he wasn't...

There. Sunlight meant outside, outside meant freedom. Air seemed to fill her lungs easier the moment she'd stepped out of the threshold of the building - a castle apparently. Three - four - five steps away from the door and she had to sit (more like her legs collapsed out from under her). The world was spinning so fast, a clutter of noise and chaos and panic. Yes, panic was a good word to use. Words came, important words. The unmemorable woman had said something important about communication. If only she could focus long enough to remember what was said and how to use it.
