Physical description:

Remus has shaggy light brown hair and if one were to pick through his hair they would notice several gray hairs lingering under the natural color but it has yet to reach the stage where it's utterly noticeable. Depending on the time of month there might be a slight pallor to his face, his body is littered with scars although they're usually covered by his clothes. He's quite scrawny for his age and it's due to the werewolf transformations taking its toll on his body - this transformation has a habit of ripping his clothes if he's not careful. Since I'm taking Remus from his teen years I've selected a PB for him, one William Moseley.

This is not Remus' only form, once a month he transforms into a wolf and while the movie depicts him as some sort of cross-breed between a wolf and a human - the books state that he's mostly wolf with a few differences in the eye, snout and tail area and that's the description I'll be going with. For Remus I've just selected a dark wolf figure mainly for the sake of convenience.

Canon Information
History: "It is very painful to turn into a werewolf. I was separated from humans to bite, so I bit and scratched myself instead. The villagers heard the noise and the screaming and thought they were hearing particularly violent spirits."

Born on March 10th of the year 1960 to a caring set of parents Remus lived a perfectly normal life for several years with his parents. However, Remus' father offended one Fenrir Greyback who was a vile tempered werewolf that positioned himself near families on the night of the full moon when he was five years old. This was how Remus' life was turned upside-down, for on that fateful night he was attacked and bitten forever cursed to walk the path of a werewolf. His parents tried everything in order to cure him while never speaking of Fenrir's name leaving Remus in the dark as to who had changed him. The rest of his childhood was rather isolated due to his affliction, making friends became rather difficult.

As his eleventh year drew closer his parents worried about not only his safety but that of other children at Hogwarts; thinking it was impossible for Remus to attend school. Yet hope came in the form of Albus Dumbledore who offered protection for all when the full moon came around. He was sorted into Gryffindor House at the very beginning of his first year and other preparations were made for his monthly transformations. The Whomping Willow was planted over a secret entrance to a tunnel that lead towards Hogsmeade and the Shrieking Shack was built to house him on those lonely nights. His monthly howls stirred up all sorts of rumors like the shack being haunted by ghosts and the isolation caused him to attack himself leaving scars all over his body. These rumors were encouraged by Dumbledore so people would never approach the shack during those dangerous nights. He made friends with three other Gryffindors - James Potter, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew - although Remus was always afraid that they would learn the truth and shun him like others before them.

For a year and a half Remus made up stories for his monthly disappearances including one that his mother was sick and had to go visit her. During their second year his friends had worked out the truth and rather than shun him like he'd thought they accepted him and even began looking into becoming Animagi in order to keep him company during his transformations. While they were loyal and determined to accomplish this it wasn't until their fifth year when they finally succeeded: James became a stag, Sirius a dog and Peter a rat. The three would then sneak down to the Whomping Willow under James' Invisibility Cloak, transform and meet Remus on the other side. While he was dangerous in this state Remus was not contagious to their animals forms and they quickly became like pack members to his feral mind. Together the four of them would often come out the Whomping Willow end and run through the forest that surrounded the school and Hogsmeade.

All was well until the Marauders monthly disappearances began to stir up one Severus Snape's curiosity. For over five years there had been nothing but animosity between James, Sirius and Snape - Remus was merely hated for association with the two more devious mischief makers. Peter only participated in the bullying because James did and whatever James did - Peter did as well. That makes Remus the odd-man out and his protests about the bullying were often ignored by his friends. Snape began to follow them around trying to catch them in the act of their disappearing activities in order to get them expelled, although his main suspicion was on Remus and his excuses. In a fit of stupid protection of his friend Sirius decided to play a prank on Snape hoping to end his noisiness. He instructed Snape to poke around the Whomping Willow hoping he'd be terrified or even slightly injured by what he found on the other side of the passageway. While Sirius may have viewed it as a prank - no one else did. Which was why when James found out about what Sirius had done he'd gone down after the other student and stopped him before anything deadly had happened - yet Remus' secret was discovered.

Sworn to secrecy by Dumbledore himself, Snape was not allowed to speak of Remus' condition to anyone but believing that Remus had been part of the plot - teased him mercilessly after. Remus was allowed to stay at Hogwarts to finish off his schooling with his friends.

Mischief and exploration of Hogwarts gave way to the idea of a map - aptly named the Marauder's Map which not only showed secret passageways, but passwords, locations of people and even a bit of their wicked ways. It was set to insult anyone who did not have the password in order to view the map. At one point it was confiscated by Filch only to later end up being lifted from his office by Fred and George Weasely who passed it on to James' son, Harry. While not nearly the pranksters James and Sirius are Remus often took part in some of their activities while ignoring others that he should have put a stop to due to his Prefect status gained in fifth year, however he was never given the Head Boy position as it instead went to James.

After he graduated from school some intense stuff happened but that's then and this is now.

Personality:

Despite all of the animosity Remus has gotten over the years for being a werewolf he is really kind, and often looks for the good in people rather than judge them on surface deep details. This also makes him very forgiving for those who have wronged him, and even things like pranks played by his friends just sort of go by him for the most part - though he did not think much of the "prank" Sirius thought he was playing at Severus' expense. That was not a prank in his mind, it was a deadly situation that could have resulted in two lives being completely ruined. He was furious after finding out about what Sirius had done. Any forgiveness he might have changes when matters turn serious and there's someone physically threatening those close to him - this is when his Gryffindor traits show and he steps up to stand beside them. Even when under dangerous situations Remus keeps a level head taking into account not only his life but those around him before choosing the best way to resolve it with the least amount of injuries.

When Remus faces a situation that doesn't call for immediate action or has a problem he can't solve off the top of his head he often goes into research mode, collecting books of every nature to sit and look through them. While very responsible he has been known to look the other way when James and Sirius were plotting pranks or even putting them to use, preferring to keep his nose buried in a book rather than rat them out. Yet he does join in on the occasional prank so long as it didn't involve bullying other people and can have a wicked sense of humor - which may be a defense mechanism for protecting himself from being the recipient of too many pranks depending on what's happening.

Remus is known for being very tolerant and patient as his friends can act a bit childish, he takes everything in stride and listens to not only their over-anxious banter but their deeper issues as well. While not an expert in romantic situations, due to his innate fear of one day off-springing a child born with the same curse, Remus does make a conscious effort to make polite conversation with everyone he comes across often making friends with even the opposite sex and offering him some insight into them. Another of his fears is being disliked which is why he tries so hard to hide what he truly is since werewolves are generally feared and hated in his world, it often results in thoughts that he never speaks because they're usually not what people might think they would be.

To him there would be nothing worse than attacking a human while transformed into his wolf form, as this can lead to either death or passing along the curse. Remus wasn't given a choice to become a werewolf and he wouldn't have a choice to save someone from becoming one at his own hand either as he isn't in control of himself on the night of a the full moon. He's lived the life as a werewolf and knows how they're persecuted and wouldn't wish that on anyone - not even his worst enemy. As much as the shifting always hurts Remus tries not to let on even to his friends so they don't see him as weak, yet should they happen to be around after a really bad night he will allow them to help him. Chocolate is Remus' best friend as it seems to act as a powerful antidote for all sorts of things, Dark Magic and Dementors alike, and it has the same affect on him after a full moon night as well.

Because wounds he inflicts on himself are non-curable by magical means Remus must not only heal the long Muggle way but he can become self-conscious of them, especially if they're very visible. When asked about them he becomes distant and may even make up stories as to how he acquired them. He will jokingly tell these tales to his friends to sort of ease his own discomfort but if the wounds are bad enough his face will always show a hint of his true self-consciousness. One thing he does to cover his monthly disappearances is lie - whether it's a story about visiting his sick mother or something else - Remus will lie. However he's not always the best at lying and should someone get really close to him they may just uncover his secret like James, Sirius and Peter did. Even people who are considered enemies may pick up on his pattern and become suspicious just like Snape and if they so happen to believe in werewolves might stumble on his secret that way.

Strengths

Remus is probably one of the kindest individuals a person could ever meet. Nice to everyone and even those that his friends have strong, negative opinions of. He's friendly once comfortable with an individual and has no problem opening up to them about most things or teasing them or even getting sassy with them at times. Since he's had so few people that have accepted him in his life, Remus is one to be loyal to those who do. He would fight beside them, for them and do whatever it took to protect them. Though Remus would not condone their actions should they do something terrible. Being friends with two guys like James and Sirius has taught him patience and so he uses that quality quite a bit. He also has learned to be tolerant. This wasn't just the result of being friends with two troublemakers but also the intolerance he's suffered since becoming a werewolf. It has also taught him to be forgiving. He understands that people are afraid and fear becomes hatred which becomes directed at him and Remus forgives them of that.

Ever since becoming a werewolf at the age of five, he's had to mature in ways that other kids typically don't. Remus couldn't afford to forget when the full moon was or to not be aware of what was happening around him and it has carried over into his teen years as well. It's made him the voice of reason of the Marauders even if the others don't always listen to him. He also has an inner strength that others couldn't even begin to understand. Every month for the last twelve years he's had to suffer through physical and emotional pain and come out alive every time. Remus knows exactly what he is and how the community views werewolves but he still attempts to become a part of it, even if it's just a small part. That takes strength and courage.

Weaknesses

He's often terrible in social situations considering he was a social outcast as a child. It's worse with people his age but he gets along fabulously with adults. Remus is the self-sacrificing type and would give up his life to protect others. Due to his affliction he can be withdrawn as a way to protect both himself and others. He is very self-conscious though it has gotten better since making true friends. When it comes to his friends Remus can be a pushover, allowing them to do things they really shouldn't. Absolutely addicted to chocolate because it's a comfort to him. Both emotionally and physically. He is sometimes responsible for own self-destruction - aka not allowing himself to have things or people that make him happy.

Other Information
Special Abilities:

Remus, like other students from Hogwarts, can preform magic and while he took many subjects he did very well in Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts. A wand is used to help focus magic but that doesn't mean he absolutely has to have it though it does help most of the time. As a seventh year student Remus has quite the arsenal of spells under his belt and what he doesn't know he can turn to books to learn. Another subject which he has experience in is Potions although he was merely adequate at the cauldron. He does quite well in nonverbal spells and even had a hand in the creation of the Marauder's Map during his years at Hogwarts.

Magic can cover just about anything to making something float to creating items out of nothing or transfiguring one item into another - even live creatures. There is Dark magic which Remus tends to stay away from.

More a curse than a blessed ability Remus can turn into a werewolf with the full moon. This form is dangerous, wild, uncontrollable and even contagious. It starts with the light of the full moon: bending, shaping, twisting his form until he becomes wolf-like in appearance and next his human reasoning abandons him leaving only that of a beast. The claws of a werewolf are considered cursed and if scratched there are no spells or potions to heal them and they will forever scar. However, the real danger lies in his bite. Should he be in human or wolf form his bite has dire consequences - as a wolf if there's saliva-blood contact it will most definitely turn them into a werewolf with the rising of the next full moon and as a human it can pass along certain traits such as cravings for very raw meat and keeping scars. In wolf form the contagious bite can only be given to humans in order to pass along the curse leaving animals and non-humans safe from transformation.

Notable/Unique Needs:

It won't be a problem right away but eventually Remus will need a location that's absolutely secure to prevent him from attacking other individuals while in his werewolf form. If he can't find one on his own, he will ask to be provided one. It will be used whenever there's a full moon and the two nights surrounding it.

Anything else?

Due to being a werewolf, he has a higher tolerance to certain things such as drugs and alcohol. Also as a werewolf his bites are contagious while any wounds done by his claws can't be healed by magic and will scar if left alone. If the Owmi can heal these kinds of wounds, Remus would actually be extremely grateful. He can't pass his lycanthropy onto a kid should he ever have one.

He's good at cooking and researching and not so great with heights - particularly clumsy on flying brooms and extremely dislikes Sirius' motorbike to the point where he won't get in it.

First Person:

[The device is slightly unusual and Remus takes a long time to figure out just how it works. Even after an hour, he's still not sure he knows everything just yet. There are probably so many things it can do that he has yet to discover about this odd Muggle phone he's been given. Yet Remus can't avoid it forever. He's already put it off since his arrival and he can't do it any longer.

So he takes a deep breath and pushes the button that allows him to speak to the community at large - voice only for this moment only. There's the sound of heavy sighing on the other end and cloth shifting. When the voice on the other end speaks it has a distinct English accent and disapproval.]

If this is another one of your elaborate pranks then bravo, you've succeeded in boggling the mind of one Remus J. Lupin. Now I'd appreciate it if you would put me back amongst my old, dusty books in the library so I can continue studying. Yes, I know already. I study far too much and it's much too early in the year for me to be cooped up but what can I say? Madam Pince's company is like a ray of sunshine what with her strict control over the books, the constant shushing and her suspicious beady eyes following me wherever I might go.

Although I must say: the person you found to greet me was very detailed but the gems are a bit much, mates. I feel as though you've Bedazzled me. That might have been pushing it towards the shoddy side and next time you should just leave them out.

Either way it is highly inappropriate and rather rude to whisk someone away from their pile of boring, heavy word-filled books and if you're going to insist on continuing such a prank I might point you in a better direction away from me. Honestly, the two of you are like unruly, wild children or perhaps more like mindless apes. No I should not insult children or apes so by comparing the two of you to them, rather I shall call you by your names because there is nothing worse than a pair of wily, roguish, and bored Marauders. Especially if you are together thinking thoughts of mischievous deeds.

Third Person:

The Grand Library was a strange place and yet one of Remus' favorite areas to be in on the ship. It was comfortable and not all at the same time. He often spent a lot of time in the library at Hogwarts or surrounding himself with all kinds of books and the smell of those old, worn and sometimes dusky objects was what allowed him to feel comfortable. Books were always his friends, especially when he had none that took a more human shape. They never refused his company and he could always lose himself in the story written among the pages. Or he could fill his head with so much information that it pushed other thoughts out. It had been his escape as a child and so it was now a comfort long into his teenage years even when he'd finally been able to make friends - ones who accepted what he was.

Which is why this particular library was unsettling. There were no actual books in it. It didn't smell like a library. It smelt like a hospital. Clean and sterile. Not like a library at all. Yet he couldn't stay away, not when information and the Owmi's equivalent of books were so close at hand. New worlds had been opened up and there was so much to learn about. Not just the Owmi but other species as well. This was probably how a Muggleborn felt upon discovering the Magical World and could become a part of it. Part overwhelming and part exciting to learn everything.

His curiosity was too great to keep him away from the library, it had him strolling through the shelves of the library to look for titles that jumped out at him even if it meant dealing with technology he didn't quite understand completely. The digital files containing the books was interesting and new - something he fumbled with but was becoming adjusted to the more time he spent here. Every day he attempted to get through one non-fictional book and then would curl up in the common area with a work of fiction in the evening before bed. If he ignored several of the details, Remus could almost feel as if he were back in the common room of the Gryffindor Tower. Of course it wasn't quite the same - it was missing a few key elements in his opinion but Remus would just have to survive without his best friends. There were always other individuals to interrupt his reading sessions.
