History: 457 Hamada Brothers' Rules

Personality:
Upon meeting Tadashi most people will recognize that he's a kind individual. Even if they're complete strangers, he will take the time to get to know someone or help them out if they need it. He will go so far as to go out of his way for them because he is a firm believer that when people need help, someone should help them. If that person is him, then so be it. Tadashi is actually a fairly gentle soul. The soothing balm in a world people might always be so nice. He attempts to not mistreat someone just because they're a jerk. Though that doesn't always apply when that individual is threatening physical harm. It's his way of making the world a better place. Be the change he wants to help create in the world.

Out of the two Hamada brothers, he's definitely the friendly and out-going one of the pair. While his brother prefers to sequester himself away inside their room or even their garage-turned-lab, Tadashi has no problem making friends. That's not to say that he has a lot of friends but he does have a close, small group. Being a nerd does not always lend to meeting lots of people since he does often spend long hours at school or working on various projects. That said, he's fine having a close-knit group that he can talk to about their projects, interests and hang out with when they all have time. He isn't adverse to making new friends but makes sure that he does just as much for them as they do for him. To get, you have to give - that's just how good relationships work. Tadashi is also the type of person who has natural charisma. People want to be around him even though he hasn't done anything but be himself. Due to the fact that he's always looked out for his little bro, it gives him the sense that he knows what he's doing most of them even when he might feel out of his depth. People look to him because of that. They know that he's someone they can look to in times of need. There may even be moments when people draw strength from him simply because he can often keep calm and collected in a lot of situations. Others are drawn to him simply because of his leadership qualities even if he would never think to put himself in that position.

That's because Tadashi is fairly humble most of the time. He gives credit to others where they deserve it and gives them all the respect they deserve. Where his aunt is concerned, Tadashi is very much aware of the fact that she was a single, working woman who took in both of her young, orphaned nephews and respects her for that very much. He's very grateful to her for all she's done for both of them and attempts to remind Hiro of that - going so far as to tell him that he should make it up to her when they get in trouble. The fact that he does this while asking nothing for himself is just an example of how humble he is because Tadashi had a great deal to do with raising Hiro alongside his aunt.

Due to the very fact that they lost their parents at a young age and moved in with their aunt who knew nothing of raising two boys, Tadashi had to become responsible very quickly. He had to go from being just a big brother to almost a surrogate parent for his younger brother. He had to step up and take on the responsibility for caring for Hiro. While they did have their aunt, she didn't know how to properly raise two young boys - especially not after the loss they all suffered. Yet Tadashi never shirked that responsibility, not once. Sure, he could still be a big brother who guided and was essentially Hiro's best friend, Tadashi had to make sure his brother grew up right and didn't cause too much trouble for the people around them. From the day Hiro was born he always knew that he'd be someone his brother looked up to so he was aware that he would have to be a good role model and that's what he's always done. Between getting Hiro into robotics in the first place and getting him to interested in actually using his big brain for something other than bot fights, Tadashi has different ways of reaching his brother. Sometimes it's a difficult task and he doesn't know how to impress the importance of things on Hiro even though he lives his life the way he hopes his brother will look up to. There are times when he has to think outside the box to inspire Hiro to do something with his life such as how he tricked Hiro into wanting to go to college by taking him to his lab.

As an older brother and role model, Tadashi is often very encouraging towards people - not just Hiro but anyone around him. He encourages others to not only work on things that inspire them but to do their absolute best in everything they attempt. Of course he encourages to push themselves beyond the boundaries they might unconsciously set for themselves - especially when he knows they can do better. Tadashi wants them to be the best versions of themselves without pushing them too far. This means that when they do set out to do something, he's very supportive of them. While he might have teased Hiro a little when his brother couldn't come up with an idea for the expo, Tadashi didn't let him give up. Literally even gave him a boost so Hiro could look at things differently (even if it was upside down). He isn't the type of person who would ever give up on someone he cared about. Not his family, friends or even when he was working on Baymax.

There are also going to be times when he's stern and serious with people, especially in a dangerous place like this one. His concern for the people he cares about is so great that he tends to be a great big worrier about the danger they might be in - whether they do so willingly or not. Tadashi has pretty much perfected the Look that alerts people that he's worried and sometimes that comes across in the fact that he gets stern with them. Younger individuals may find themselves with a pseudo-brother in the form of Tadashi because everyone needs someone to look after them - some more than others. Of course everyone has their serious side and he's no exception to that. He has a very good grasp on when he should be taking a situation seriously. That said, Tadashi is also not afraid to get a little hands-on when it comes to dealing with Hiro. After making sure that his brother was okay after almost getting into a fight, he then proceeded to swat him a little for doing something so stupid. It would take him a while to reach this level of intimacy with others but he'd never actually do anything that would hurt someone. He also isn't afraid to express his disappointment from time-to-time because sometimes words just aren't enough.

That said, Tadashi can be reckless and do ridiculously dangerous things as well. With him it comes from a place of complete selflessness. He would risk his life if someone was in trouble and he could help. Not only did he ride to Hiro's rescue to pick up his little brother before he got a beating, Tadashi rushed into a burning building in order to try to help his professor. This is what caused his life to end but he is under the very firm impression that "someone has to help". Tadashi would risk his life if it meant he could save someone else. It goes beyond the urge to save someone's life, though. He is the kind of person who would make all kinds of sacrifices if it would make someone else's life better. While Tadashi doesn't completely write off his own needs and wants, he would put them aside for a time. To him, a small sacrifice is always worth it if he can help someone else.

Helping people is pretty much Tadashi's goal in life. From helping those around him all of the time to even helping complete strangers. It's his entire reason for creating the robotic nurse known as Baymax. He put so much time and effort into perfecting his creation so that one day Baymax could help a lot of people. So it isn't just about what he physically can do for people but what his creations can do. How can he help a lot of people and not just those who he might run into? Thus Baymax was born. While he has yet to see his creation beyond it's protype phase, he has big dreams for all of the things that his robot can accomplish in the future. Producing Baymax on a mass scale could make the world a better place. Tadashi would never imagine the way his robot is helping people though. Having Baymax (and his brother and friends) become a superhero was definitely not what he thought when he first started working on his project. Even though it's not what he intended, Tadashi would still be proud and glad to hear that Baymax is helping people.

Not everything is about being completely responsible and adult-like though. Tadashi definitely has a humorous side to him. He goes along with the nicknames that his friends have been given, teases his brother and does know how to relax. While he knows it's important to be the responsible adult, he's also a guy who just has a little bro and is a friend. Sure, sometimes his idea of relaxing might be kicking back with a book instead of doing things like going out to party but it's fine because that's just what Tadashi likes to do. He'd much rather spend a relatively quiet night at home with his family watching scary movies, playing video games or even building some tech with Hiro than go out. That doesn't mean he wouldn't go out with his friends on occasion. Considering who his friends are, they're probably more likely to end up just hanging out somewhere quiet than anything.

Tadashi is also fairly intelligent. While he was never the genius his little brother was, he did always have something special. Sure he could put together a robot but it was always Hiro that had the brilliant idea. This is shown when Tadashi finally shows his bro Baymax. Hiro was very excited about it but also had ideas that would make the robot even better. There was a time when he was jealous but he's over it at this point in his life. Now he simply works his hardest and encourages Hiro to do the same. Due to the fact that he decided to go to college to keep studying, Hiro calls him a nerd and honestly, Tadashi doesn't deny it. He knows that he's a nerd and is okay with that. It's just who he is and now, so is Hiro. Welcome to nerd school, nerd. Honestly, Tadashi is proud of his accomplishments. This is evident in the video files that were recorded during his work on Baymax. Tadashi started out so optimistic and could be seen continuously working on his robot no matter the problems he faced. Horrible sounds? No problem. Get attacked? Sure. It may have been discouraging but he never once thought about giving up. Baymax was part of his goal to make the world a better place and no matter he wasn't going to let it go. And when Baymax finally worked the way he was supposed to? That was a very happy moment for him, he even did a little dance and kissed the robot. He was extremely proud and eager to show off his creation to his brother as well.

Since he isn't a prodigy, this means that Tadashi has to work hard to accomplish all of the things he wants to. What might take Hiro no time at all to figure out, it takes Tadashi longer. He isn't afraid to put in the hard work either. There were many late nights at his college lab and eighty-three failed tests to get Baymax to the point where he functioned the way Tadashi intended. Giving up would have been easy, asking Hiro for help would have been even easier but this was something he wanted to accomplish by himself even if he did listen to the suggestions his brother gave him. When Hiro did finally get to see Baymax, he was impressed with the coding Tadashi put into it. Of course, to even be accepted to this school - Tadashi had to be pretty impressive to start with. Setting to create a robotic nurse also makes him fairly creative, especially to make him a big puffy marshmallow of a robot. It's hardly his first creation but Baymax is definitely the one featured most in the movie. If one looks around their room, they'll see all kinds of things - even a rolling arm robot that's an old creation. He's been building things with Hiro for years now and still has ideas about projects he could work on in the future.

The personality section would not be complete without mentioning his influential relationships - starting with his little brother. Of course Hiro is the most important person in his life, even more-so than his aunt. He's been apart of Hiro's life since his brother was first conceived fourteen years ago. From that moment on, they were pretty much bound together tighter than anything. Family doesn't always get to choose their family but if he could, Tadashi would choose Hiro every time. What started off as just a relatively normal sibling relationship changed when their parents died. Hiro had been fairly young at the time and it was also when Tadashi stopped being just a brother and older role model - he had to become something close to a parent as well. Someone who remembered their parents and all of the dreams they had for their boys. While Cass takes of them both still, he has stepped up to take on other tasks such as scolding Hiro, attempting to get him out of trouble and helping him find real direction in his life. He isn't always a parent to Hiro though. They can't break their sibling relationship, it just gets added on to.

After living around each other for fourteen years and spending ten of those years sharing a room together, it should come as no surprise to find out that Hiro is Tadashi's best friend on top of everything else. There isn't anything they can't talk about, there's nothing kept secret and no one knows him better than Hiro. That also works in reverse - Tadashi knows everything about his brother. Whether that means his brother's attempts at keeping secrets to simply knowing his moods. He can read his bro like a book. That means he knows when something's bothering him, when he's planning to do something stupid or even when Hiro comes up with a new idea. Through it all, Tadashi is there with him for the most part. Sometimes that means being there as moral support or a sounding board and at other times it means pulling Hiro's butt out of the fire. It even means going to jail or placing GPS trackers in all of his hoodies so he can keep track of his brother when he goes off to do something stupid and dangerous. Even if there are times when he's disappointed, Tadashi will never not be there for Hiro unless he dies.... again.

After Hiro, his aunt is the next important person in his life. Like most families, he saw her on occasion when he was a child - maybe even fairly frequently but she had yet to become so deeply immersed in his life. When she became their guardian it changed the whole dynamic of their relationship. She was no longer the aunt who dropped into their lives from time-to-time but someone who was there constantly. Her presence became something that existed around him all of the time. They may be just aunt and nephew but at this point their relationship is fairly similar to being mother and son. Tadashi dislikes making her worry about him and Hiro, looks up to her, respects her immensely and loves her deeply. Taking on not just one kid but two is tough and she hadn't been prepared for it when it happened. Considering the fact that she's single and doesn't have any children means that she very well might have put her own life on hold to raise her nephews. That's why he attempts to ease her burden in anyway he can even if it doesn't work all of the time. He's clearly upset when she comes to pick them up from jail and wants to find a way to make it up to her. Even though Cass may not believe she's doing a perfect job of raising them, he knows different and is grateful for everything she does.

Then his group of friends from school. Chances are good that he met them while attending college and has been working alongside them under Professor Callaghan's watch. He's close enough to them that he calls them all by the nicknames Fred has come up for them and none of them appear to really mind it (even if Wasabi does complain on occasion). None of them appear to be really surprised when he suddenly drops by the lab with his little brother in toe. In fact, they're all willing to show Hiro what they're currently working on - with Honey Lemon even dragging him into it physically. This shows that he's likely talked about his bro to all of them at some point. Tadashi even invited them back to the Hamada garage lab to check out Hiro's project for the expo, gladly letting them into the Hamada inner circle. They even went so far as to help carry in the microbots. His friends attended his funeral and continued to look after Hiro after his death. They were willing to help this kid they met a few weeks ago deal with Tadashi's death because they are true friends thru-and-thru. That's something he'll appreciate forever when he learns of it.

Abilities:
No extraordinary powers here, just a typical guy with a good grasp on science and robotics. Tadashi is actually the creator of a robotical nurse called Baymax. This is a project he's been working on from the ground up and likely did most of it by himself, only going to others when he absolutely needs to. Not only did Tadashi build the robot, he also programmed it. It took him 84 attempts to get Baymax to the point where he no longer had huge faults in his programming but Tadashi never gave up. Considering all of the work he put into his creation, it wouldn't be the least bit surprising if he some basic first aid (not to mention having his little brother go out to dangerous botfights).

He's got mad moped driving skills. Not only is he a relatively good driver, Tadashi could compete in the Moped World Cup Series with his capabilities. He can drive right up to people without hitting them, pull 180s on the ground or take it up a poorly made ramp and get serious air. But hey, he always makes sure that helmets are worn.

Tadashi does know a little bit of karate and is physically fit for being a nerd. While he can't accomplish inhuman feats, he can at least take care of himself and even his brother on occasion. He also knows how to play soccer as it's something Hiro plays and Hiro didn't exactly have a lot of friends to pal around with.

Exposition/Introspection:
Today had been strange to say the least. It had started off fairly normal - watch Hiro freak out in the garage over his project, calm him down enough to eat something, greet their friends, load the containers into Aunt Cass' truck and Wasabi's car, get to the university, unload, watch Hiro kick ass with his demonstration, be extremely and incredibly proud. Then it had all changed. The exposition hall was burning and people were running away while he ran towards it with his brother on his heels. He remembered someone mentioning that Professor Callaghan had been inside still and Tadashi fully intended to go in to see if he could pull the older man out.

Hiro had stopped him then and the frightened look on his brother's face had almost been enough to prevent him from going in. He hadn't seen an expression like that in a long time, not even when the youngest Hamada got into serious trouble at bot fights or had a nightmare. In that moment, Hiro needed him. But Callaghan needed him more so Tadashi left his brother in the relative safety outside the building to rush in and do what he could.

Tadashi remembered taking the steps two at a time and losing his hat as a gust of hot air came off the building straight towards him. Once inside, he'd covered his mouth and nose with the sleeve of his jacket while taking in the room. Fire was everywhere but he couldn't see the professor anywhere. Before he could take another step, everything changed. It went black and the intense heat was suddenly gone only to be replaced by a cooler sensation surrounding him. Not even his body felt right, more like he was conscious of being in it but incapable of moving.

At first he'd thought that maybe he had ended up in the hospital and expected there to be some kind of pain - even if it was only a slight thing. What he hadn't thought was that he'd be sitting at a classroom desk. A high school classroom desk, at that. There were all kinds of other students around him, talking quietly and he couldn't quite understand all of the words. Considering the fact that he still couldn't move, Tadashi contemplated the possibility that he was in a coma and this was just his brain being exceptionally overactive. That theory went out the window when he found himself capable of movement after the teacher walked in.

Once he had full control of his body, Tadashi looked down at himself to check for injuries - even going so far as to search for any kind of head trauma by running his hands over his skull. Finding nothing he turned to the nearest person.

"Excuse me, do you know how I got here or where here even is? I've got to get back to my family, they're probably really worried right about now."

Hiro and Aunt Cass would likely be very upset with him, yell and scold him for doing something so dangerous before hugging him. Not to mention that he had to check on his little brother, make sure he was okay and hadn't gotten hurt in the chaos that the fire caused.
